About Us

Our Vision:

“To be the Inspiration of Social Consciousness and Sustainable Care to All”

Medical Aid & Knowledge Initiatives (MAKi) started in 2010 with a mission of bridging community medical needs with sustainable and innovative health and education initiatives. But it is more than just that, MAKi also means “hand” in quechua, an ancient language of the people of the central Andes of South America, we extend our hands as a basic principle that each person can assist with the smallest of efforts. We came together as 3 doctors and 1 social worker, to start an initiative that is working to increase access to quality medical care and medical technology for communities in need.

We are very proud to share with you that in December 2011 we were granted a UC Davis Telemedicine Scholarship due to our work with undeserved communities. This program provided the necessary training to improve our services and access to care for the communities we serve. Since then, we have developed medical missions and projects in the United States, Mexico, and Peru.
